The Thanet Sports Awards is back and it is bigger and better than ever!

The annual event is organised by the Thanet Sport Network – a group of public, private and voluntary sector organisations who work together to increase sporting opportunities in Thanet – and will showcase local sporting talent and achievement across all ages, all abilities and across the full range of sports.

The Thanet Extra will again be the official media partner for the awards, alongside kmfm for Thanet radio.  Breakfast show presenter Johnny Lewis will again compere the ceremony itself at the Winter Gardens Margate on Wednesday 17^th November.

The Thanet Sports Awards will celebrate “all things sport” – not just high level achievement but also those who have shown extraordinary enthusiasm and dedication.  Family, friends, coaches, teachers and sport professionals are invited to nominate individuals and teams in the following categories:

• Club of the Year
• Coach of the Year
• Disabled Sportsperson of the Year
• Individual Sporting Achievement
• Long Service
• Sportsman of the Year
• Sportswoman of the Year
• Team of the Year
• Unsung Hero
• Young Sportsperson of the Year
• Young Team of the Year

The only conditions are that nominations must be residents of Thanet or members of Thanet based clubs, and nominations must be for the period 1^st September 2009 to 31^st August 2010.

Online nomination is available this year, at www.thanet.gov.uk/sportsawards.  Nomination forms are also available from the Thanet District Council offices in Margate, Thanet Extra offices in Cliftonville, Hartsdown Leisure Centre and Ramsgate Sports Centre.  The closing date for nominations is Friday 8^th October.
