Kara adds her support
Broadstairs athlete and local favourite Kara Gibbs has confirmed that she will attend Thanet Athletics Club’s launch event at 6.00pm on Tuesday 20th April at The Marlowe Academy.
Kara was crowned Kent Indoor high jump champion in February 2010 and won a silver medal in the pole vault at the same event. Kara was Southern Counties Under 20 pole vault bronze medalist in 2009 and is currently ranked 19th in the UK in her age group for pole vault. Kara was voted Thanet Sportswoman of the Year in 2009; she is on a one year apprenticeship with the NHS in Human Resources and is studying for an NVQ in Business and Administration.
Kara is a great all-rounder and has represented her own club Ashford AC at 100m, 200m, high jump, long jump, javelin, shot putt, 100m hurdles, discus, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay and even 800m which as Kara says” is a long way for a pole vaulter who normally runs 20m at a time!”.
