Thanet Athletics Club

We chose not to send a Under 11 team to the fourth of this year’s five Kent Sportshall Athletics Winter Series meetings at Swanley on Sunday, but the Under 13 and Under 15 girls did Thanet AC proud once again and showed that they are in top form ahead of the South East Regional Finals on Sunday 12 February.

Chantelle Bailey won three of her five events, and placed second behind Alice Fox in the other two, to win the Under 13 Girls competition.  Chantelle set new personal bests in the vertical jump, shot putt, standing long jump and speed bounce and equalled her own personal best in the 2 lap race.

Alice Fox won the vertical jump and shot putt and was second behind Chantelle in the 2 lap race to finish second overall.

Tanya Bailey was third in the shot putt, giving a Thanet AC 1-2-3 in that event, and finished ninth overall.

There is also a team competition for the Under 13 Girls; Eloise Harvey of Dartford Harriers joined our three Thanet girls to make a team of four and was no doubt very pleased to go home with a team gold medal.

Diana Adegoke was the only Under 15 Girl from Thanet AC but she was also in top form, winning the vertical jump, standing long jump, speed bounce and 2 lap race and placing second in the shot putt.  Diana’s 22.1s in the 2 lap race was a new championship record, and she won the individual competition overall ahead of Ella Walden of Dartford Harriers.
