Club supports schools sportshall athletics
Thanet Athletics Club will be supporting two Thanet schools sportshall athletics events next week.
On Wednesday 1 February, Year 7/8 boys and girls from six secondary schools will compete in a Kent School Games qualifying event at Ursuline College. The event will be managed by Athletics Development Officer James Bridge, and the club will supply officials and volunteers.
On Saturday 4 February, the club will host the biggest schools sportshall athletics event in Kent so far this year, with 250 Year 5/6 athletes from 10 primary schools also competing at Ursuline College to represent Thanet at the Kent School Games.
The event, which will now be known as the Thanet Primary Schools Sportshall Athletics Championships, was previously organised by the Thanet School Sport Partnership during the school day, usually on a Thursday. This year, the schools asked Thanet Athletics Club to move the event to a Saturday and to make it a bigger event. The plan has worked, and we are very grateful for the support from the schools.
