Double Olympic Champion Dame Kelly Holmes supports Thanet Athletics Club

Thanet Athletics Club received a welcome boost ahead of its launch on Tuesday 20^th April with a message of support from double Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes.

Club chairman Phil Pittock and young athlete Georgia Debling spoke to Dame Kelly about their plans for the new club when they met her at the opening of the new £5m sports centre at Canterbury Christ Church University on Friday 5^th March.

Dame Kelly said “I am delighted to hear about the new Thanet Athletics Club.  It will provide new opportunities, encourage increased participation and will improve the standard of athletics in this part of East Kent.  It will also help to maximize the use of the new athletics track at The Marlowe Academy.  I wish every success to all those involved”.
