Thanet Athletics Club

Street Athletics is an initiative set up by former Olympic athletes Linford Christie and Darren Campbell to bring athletics to local communities.  Young people are invited to race each other over 60m at a series of regional heats and finals.

Thanet heats were held as part of the Easter Blast events over the Easter school holidays and the 2010 East Kent regional finals will be held at The Leas in Folkestone (next to the Leas Cliff Call) on Sunday 4 July.  Registration is from 1.00 to 2.00pm and the races themselves are from 2.00 to 4.00pm.

There are four age group categories – U20, U17, U15 & U13 - for boys and girls.  The top three boys and top three girls from each age group category will be invited to attend the Grand Final in Manchester in September.  Athletes do not need to have taken part in the Thanet heats to run at Folkestone.

So, if you fancy your chances (or you just want to see a fun event and meet former Olympic and World Champions!) go and have a go!
