We were blessed with good weather and had an amazing 942 finishers in the Primary Schools Cross Country event on Saturday 5th October. BUSY SEASON FOR THANET ATHLETES!!!
End of season report Thanet athletes have had a busy summer season competing in various competitions up and down the country. The club sent a team of U15 and U13 boys and girls to the Kent Young Athlete League. The team competed in three league meetings. In June they finished 5th in the match, July finishing 3rd in the match and August where they accumulated enough points to finish an astonishing 4th in league division 2 narrowly missing out on third place by 1 point!!! U11 Athletics Series 2019
Thanet Athletics Club hosted the last of the U11 summer series on Friday 5th July 2019. After record numbers of entries in the first two meetings, Friday topped the records with over 70 young athletes competing, meaning that the whole series attracted several hundred entires overall. 14 athletes from Thanet Athletics Club competed in 38 different events on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May at the Kent athletics championships held at the Julie Rose stadium in Ashford. Athletes from Thanet Athletics Club competed at the Kent indoor championships held at the Lee Valley Stadium North London over the weekend 16th-17th March 2019, mustering an array of medals and personnel bests. On the Saturday, George Seery won gold in the U17mens 60 metres hurdles, and then went on to win silver in both the U17 men’s long jump and shot. Busy 2 weeks for Thanet Athletics Clubs athletes
Connor Neal and Jack Seery from Thanet Athletics club were selected to represent Kent on Sunday 8th July at the U17 Inter-Counties meet in Lee Valley. Connor had a good run in the 400m race and finished 2nd with 51.49s. He then jumped 5.83m in B String long jump, finishing in an amazing 1st place. U13 & U15 Athletes Needed for League Events
With League meetings starting in April we are looking for athletes in years 6,7,8 and 9 to compete for the club in the Kent Young Athletes League (KYAL) and Youth Development League (YDL) Both leagues are designed to provide an introduction to competitive athletics in a supportive environment. Thanet AC In ‘Medal Heaven’ at County Championships
Thanet Athletics Club eclipsed their best ever medal tally at the County Indoor Championships by taking away 10 medals over the two day event consisting of 3 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals. Diana Adegoke, ranked no.10 in the UK, took gold in the U20 age group with a distance of 5m48. More golds at Swanley Sportshall
Thanet AC athletes scooped more medals on Sunday 7 February at the fourth Kent Sportshall competition of the season. The indoor competition comprises five events which U13, U15 and U17 athletes compete in both individually and as part of a team of four. Jessica Wood was part of the U13 Girls Team that won the team gold with Wood also coming first in the Shotput with a PB of 7.70m.
