Thanet athletes have finished off the season with some fantastic performances at the Combined Events Championships in Erith. Emily
Giardina (U17 Heptathlon), Konrad Farrall (U17 Octathlon) and George Seery (U15 Pentathlon) competed across the weekend.
Seery had a good start in the 80m hurdles (13.18s) followed by personal bests in the shot putt (7.73m), long jump (5.09m) and high jump (1.47m) put him in 4th place with just 800m to go. Seery smashed his personal best by 2 seconds to finish in 2:19.7 and secure the bronze medal with a point’s total of 2157.
Farrall began his first day with long jump (4.83m), discus (21.13m) and high jump (1.45m) recording personal bests in all 3 events and finishing with 400m(64.26s) ending the day in 4th place. On day two he ran the 100m hurdles in 16.09 putting him into 3rd place which he maintained with solid performances in shot putt (10.66m) and javelin (18.48m, and another personal best). In his final event, the 1500m Farrall put in a huge effort in his last lap to finish in 5:55.23 and maintain the bronze medal position with a point’s total of 2805
Giardina started day one with solid performances in the 80m hurdles (15.34s) and high jump (1.28m), finishing with shot putt (7.63m) and 200m (30.42s) leaving her in 6th place. On day two she went from strength to strength moving up to 5th place after the long jump (4.27m), followed by a solid performance in the javelin (22.03m). Giardina ran a 14s personal best in the 800m to secure her 5th place with a points total of 2829.
