Windsor Open Meeting Success for Thanet AC Athletes

March 7, 2016

The Indoor Open Meeting on Sunday (6th March) at Eton saw 4 Thanet AC athletes shine and signal that this is going to be another successful season for the club.

First up Diana Adegoke, in only her second long jump competition after 12 months out due to injury, registered her 3rd best jump ever with a mark of 5.67m which is

only 11cm behind her personal best.  This currently ranks her 10th in the country and is a superb benchmark for the rest of the season.

Thanet AC then had 3 athletes competing in the 60m hurdles. Erin Moses started the trio with a personal best of 9.93s, she improved on this in her second race with another personal best of 9.81s which ranks her in the top 60 in the country, in what is a very competitive age group.

Next up was Emily Russell hurdling in her first race since taking up the discipline 3 months ago. Emily registered a time of 10.46s in her first race, and then in another great performance improved to 10.22s which means she is ranked in the top 100 in the country, pretty impressive for her first year as an U15 athlete.

Finally Konrad Farrall competing for the first time indoors and in the U17 age category had to takle new height hurdles and came away with a new personal best of 9.48s.

All 4 athletes are going on to the Indoor County Championships in a couple of weeks, they take with them confidence from their performances on Sunday and will be joined by several other athletes from the club.

Coach Darren Hatton explained 'To produce these kind of performances early in the season shows that they are in great shape.  The winter training seems to be paying off and the fact that they have not really done a lot of technical or speed work yet bodes well for the summer!!'
