More golds at Swanley Sportshall


Thanet AC athletes scooped more medals on Sunday 7 February at the fourth Kent Sportshall competition of the season. The indoor competition comprises five events which U13, U15 and U17 athletes compete in both individually and as part of a team of four. Jessica Wood was part of the U13 Girls Team that won the team gold with Wood also coming first in the Shotput with a PB of 7.70m. Aston Fredericks scooped team gold with the U13 Boys team and finished first in both the 4 lap race with 49.6s and Standing Long Jump with 2.30m. Connor Neal received team gold with the U15 Boys and was first in three of his events – Vertical Jump with 58cm, Standing Long Jump with a PB of 2.40m and the 4 lap race with a PB of 46.8s. Competing for the first time in the U13 Girls group was Jessica Francis who put in a good effort in all five events. The Under 11’s performed well too with an excellent PB from Libby Pritchard in the Standing Triple Jump of 5.55m placing her 5th out of 33 young athletes. Jake Grossmith also finished 5th in the Vertical Jump with a PB of 42cm. Newcomers to the Under 11’s team Tigi Were, Freya Pritchard and Lilly Grossmith all had an excellent first event with their team finishing 15th overall.
