The second match of the Kent Young Athletes League was held in Central Park in Dartford on Sunday. Once again the U15 Boys performed brilliantly with several new PBs and came out in first place with 150 points. Notable performances came from William Jennings who ran a pb of 12.7s in the 100m sprint and 27.1s in the 200m; Jack Seery ran a pb of 26.8s in the 200m and his brother George also clocked up a new pb of 2m 21.9s in the 800m. Connor Neal won the Long Jump with 4.77m closely followed by Samuel Belsey with 4.68m. Aston Fredericks finished first in the B string heats of both the 100m and 200m with 13.3s and 28.0s and Ned Naisbitt threw some great shots out on the field and finished second in Shotput and Hammer and was third in Discus with 16.24m. The Boys also won the 4x100m relay in 51.4s and the 3x100m in 3m 0.6s.
The U15 Girls had a productive day too with Erin Moses winning the 75m Hurdles in 12.2s and gaining a PB in the 100m with 13.2s which also earned her first place. Emily Russell was 1st in the B string heat of the hurdles with a PB of 12.7s and won the Long Jump along with Mia Hillyard who jumped 4.6m. Carys Shipton was 2nd in the B string 100m sprint with 14s followed by Katrina Booth who ran a PB of 14.5s. Leah McDonald, competing for the first time for Thanet AC, finished 4th in the 200m with a PB of 30.6s. The girls also won both their relays completing the 4x100m in 56.3s and the 4x300m in 3m 4.1s. The Girls finished third overall with a total of 114 points.
The U13 Girls team had just two entrants – Jessica Francis and newcomer Lily Murray. The girls put in great efforts with Francis throwing a PB of 13.01m in Discus and 8.75m in Javelin, both of which earned her fourth place and Murray throwing a PB of 10.94 in Discus and 5.57m in Shotput. However with a lack of entrants to cover the sprint events and relays the girls managed to clock up just 36 points which put them in 6th place.
With no entrants at all in the U13 Boys Team the overall points for the club at the end of the second match was 325 putting them in fourth place in the league.
