Thanet AC produced another fabulous weekend of performances to set alight the County Indoor Championships at Lee Valley.

With every single athlete that we sent producing a personal best performance it was no wonder that we came away with a total of 11 medals including 3 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze.

On Saturday we yet again got off to an amazing start with a gold medal performance in the U17 women’s 60m hurdles race. Erin Moses, who has been struggling in training of late, managed to put that aside and win in a new personal best time of 9.68s. What made it even sweeter was that it was by the smallest of margins of 0.01s!!!

George Seery had a very good day when he won 2 silver medals in the U15 boys 60m hurdles in a new personal best time by over half a second of 9.71s and then following that up with a personal best jump of 5m09 in the long jump. George also ran a time of 26.82s in the 200m.

Konrad Farrall won our first bronze medal of the day in the U17 men’s 60m hurdles in a new personal best of 8.98s smashing his old personal best. Konrad also ran a time of 25,39s in the 200m.

Our second bronze medal came in the shape of Emily Russell in the U15 girls 60m hurdles where she set a massive personal best in the heats with 8.83s, only to then top that in the final with 8.77s and was only 0.03s off of the silver medal.

Our last medal of the day came from Connor Neal in the U17 boys long jump with a new personal best of 5m81, beating his old distance by nearly 40cm. Connor also ran personal best times of 24.08s in both the heat and his final.

Also on Saturday we had a number of fantastic performances from Lewis Parsons in the senior men’s 200m where he had to overcome a tough lane 1 draw to run a superb time of 24.36s, Adam Wall also ran in the same event where he knocked a second off of his best ever time to record 26.32s, Abigail Sayer in the U17 women’s pole vault with a seasons best of 2m10 and Thomas Wells in his first ever competition for the club where he threw a personal best of 9m33 in the U17 men’s shot putt.

We then moved on to Sunday and it wasn’t long before the medals started to flow again.

Danny Campion started us off with a fantastic performance in the T42 60m where he set yet another personal best to take the gold medal in 11.29s proving that all his hard work is really starting to show now.

Our other gold medal of the day came in the way of Aston Fredericks who competed in the U15 boys triple jump where he recorded a new personal best of 8m47. Aston also set a personal best in the 60m where he ran a time of 8.27s.

We had a double medalling in the U15 boys 300m where Jack and Louis Small went head to head in the final in their first ever event for the club. This time it was Louis who took the bragging rights with the silver medal and a personal best time of 45.16s, and Jack taking the bronze medal in a personal best time of 45.36s.

Our last medal of the weekend came from Chloe Williams who hung up her officials clothing for the day and competed in the U20 women’s shot putt recording a huge new personal best of 7m95 to take the bronze medal.

Also on Sunday we had a number of excellent performances and personal bests galore. Lewis Parsons put the previous day’s disappointment behind him to run a personal best in the 60m in 7.39s. Adam Wall ran another massive personal best in the 60m to record his first sub 8 clocking in 7.77s, Connor Neal ran 2 consecutive personal bests in the heat and final of the U17 men’s 400m to take nearly 3 seconds off of his previous personal best. His heat was in a time of 54.21s and then the final in 53.82s. Emily Giardina

girls long jump, but then ran a personal best in the 300m in a time of 47.85s. Konrad Farrall ran a personal best in the U17 men’s 60m in a time of 7.76s.

Coach James Bridge said “for the time of year that it is the fact that everyone is producing these kind of performances is such a fantastic feeling for the whole club. We thought that we may come away with some good results, but to take away 11 medals and everyone achieving at least one personal best each is amazing. Roll on the summer now!!!”
