Medway Park saw the first of the U14 and U16 Kent Young Athletes League (KYAL) take place.
With limited athletes, Thanet AC, combined with White Cliffs Athletics Club, put on a great show of track and field on a very hot day in Division 2.
The U14 girls stole the show with a 2nd place overall on the day.
Bella Winfield recorded all 3 personal best on the day with 1st place in the A string 75mH (13.86s), 1st place in the B string 200m (29.45s) and 5.28m in the shot putt.

Isobel Kenyon came away with a 1st place in the A string javelin (22.38m) and a 3rd place in the discus (16.36m).

The other athletes that we had competing was in the U16 boys. With only 3 athletes (one from White Cliffs) the boys did well to finish 6th when only able to pick up limited points.
Thomas Hatton competed in 3 events. He was 1st with a personal best in the A string shot putt (9.35m), 2nd in the A string high jump (1.60m) and 5th with a personal best in the A string 200m (26.26s).
Evan Fox recorded a personal best and was 2nd in the B string high jump (1.35m).
All in all, a super show by a club still without the use of a track!
U14 coach Linda Hardy spoke about the day saying “We are such a proud club of these athletes who are turning up to compete. It’s been a very difficult time, but we are just around the corner from being able to train on our own track again. I think the rest of this season is going to be a good one!!!”
